As we begin a new year, it is a good time to take a look at what you are ingesting on a daily basis. Yes, this means food, but there is a whole lot more to what you are ingesting!
We ingest food & beverages, but when we consider what we are ingesting, it is important to look also at what we are reading, listening to, what types of social media we are engaging in and also who we allowing into our lives.
Looking at what you eat & drink is easy. Are you ingesting too much sugar, dairy, meat or caffeine for example. Look at how these substances and others are effecting you physically, emotionally & mentally. Are they helpful or do they actually cause more harm? Recently, I discovered that dairy is a major issue for my body & once I removed it, a lot of problems I had been dealing with for years went away. If you are unsure if something is potentially harmful for you, remove it for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference.
Things get much more complicated when we talk about what we are reading or listening to. For example, if you are watching television and an advertisement for a medication comes on, it is best if you mute the television. Your subconscious mind will absorb the list of side effects and retain that information as something that "could happen". You do not want that in your mind at all. Especially since the list of side effects is always a mile long!
When it comes to what you are reading, does it lift you up or bring you down. I highly recommend that if you have people on your social media pages who bring you down then it is time to unfriend or unfollow. You will notice a difference in how you feel spiritually & energetically when you shed negativity from your feeds. You are under no obligation to have to see things that you don't agree with or don't want to see on your social media. You have control, so use it as much as possible!
Sometimes we have "friends" in our lives who are causing us more harm then good. It may be that they are a "negative Nancy" type of person or someone who does nothing but gossip about others. Maybe they use you by taking what they need from you (time, attention, love) and then discarding you when you are no longer useful to them. Take a long look at who you allow in your orbit and make sure they are the type of people who lift you up & support you. That they are kind & compassionate people who genuinely root for you & your success. If they don't meet your expectations or needs, then it is time to shed that relationship. Remember, you take on the traits & habits of the people you spend the most time with! Who do you want to be in 2022?
